Stress training - “Down Stress”

Reducing stress is something that you have to do, you can’t take a pill to make many stresses go away. This is a list of things that are important to practice in order to reduce stress.

  • Don’t delay relaxation, do it every day.
  • Organize time well and delegate tasks. Leave spare time for emergencies.
  • Work off stress by doing some physical activity.
  • Negotiate and recognize what cannot be changed.
  • Sleep is a key to getting over stress, so don’t short-change yourself by cutting into sleep time.
  • Tiredness can go unrecognized, especially when under pressure.
  • Restrict use of alcohol, nicotine, coffee, and medications such as tranquillizers.
  • Establish regular, agreeable relaxations, such as walking the dog.
  • Say “no” now. This will prevent pressure in the future.
  • Sickness should not be ignored or “worked through”.
